A message from Al Vanden Heuvel, Water Choices CEO

Hi, my name is Al Vanden Heuvel and I was born with a striker in my hand!  Pipe wrenches are too heavy for a little kid – besides the striker (used to light torches) made really cool sparks.  My dad was a plumber and at one time owned the largest union shop in Arizona, Precision Plumbing.  So, yes, I actually was born into the water protection business.

Shortly after I started WaterChoices.com I experienced a super cool flashback…it was 1967 and I had entered a project in my school science fair.  What I built earned me a “Blue Ribbon” and an “Army Accommodation” award for…you guessed it…a water treatment system!  That flashback made me realize my heart, my spirit has always been about providing healthy water.

After 33 years of plumbing service, two businesses, six plumbing licenses, and 20 years of water treatment, I have finally found a way to promote the licensed plumber while also educating the consumer about why they need healthy water treatment.

Further, I am a Rotarian and practice the 4-Way Test of Rotary International and promote the ideas set forth in James P. Owen’s best selling book, “Cowboy Ethics”. These ethics are handed down into all operations of Water Choices.

The 4-Way Test of the Things We Think, Say or Do:

  1. Is it the truth?
  2. Is it fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
  4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Cowboy Ethics:

  • Live each day with courage.
  • Take pride in your work.
  • Always finish what you start.
  • Do what has to be done.
  • Be tough, but fair.
  • When you make a promise, keep it.
  • Ride for the brand.
  • Talk less and say more.
  • Remember that some things aren’t for sale.
  • Know where to draw the line.

Thanks for listening and enjoy your healthy water!
