My Water is Brown and Rusty:

Brown and rusty water is usually associated with well water systems, but not always.

Even the best city water distribution systems have dirt, sediment, rust and/or sand within the pipes. This material often makes its way into your plumbing system, staining the plumbing fixtures and discoloring your toilets.  If you don’t filter the water, you are ultimately drinking the dirt.

It is very rare to find a well water system that does not leave rusty, brown stains on everything.  In some instances a simple canister filter will solve the problem but in most cases dissolved iron is the culprit which requires oxidation to filter the iron.

The most common form of oxidation occurs with the introduction of chlorine into the water system.  Since chlorine is harmful to all living things, we do not advocate using it.

A natural form of oxidation is the air we breathe.  Yes, oxygen!  It’s free and it’s everywhere.  Unfortunately, it promotes bacterial growth which is what we don’t want.

The best way to oxidize iron is with ozone (0³).  It is extremely effective at removing all forms of iron, iron bacteria, sulfur, taste, odor and chlorine. Another positive is that the only by-product of ozone is healthy oxygen.

Ozone treatment systems work great on both well water and city water.
