My Water Stains and Discolors Applianes, Clothes or Hair:

Most of the time, staining or discoloring of clothes and hair is associated with well water.  Almost all well water has some form and amount of iron suspended within the water.  When iron is oxidized, it has a tendency to stick to and collect on clothes, plumbing fixtures, washers and even your hair.

Iron oxidation occurs in different ways.  The most common is when the iron comes in contact with oxygen.  When water is falling from your shower head, swirling in the toilet or washer, it is mixing with oxygen causing oxidation of the iron.

To filter iron it must be oxidized.  The trick is to oxidize and filter iron before it comes out of your faucets.  There are a few ways to oxidize iron.  One is with chlorine, which we do not recommend as it is harmful to all living things.  Another is through the introduction of air into the water system.  This works well but has its limitations.  The best method for cleaning up iron laden water is with o-zone (O³).  It disinfects the water as well as removes other unwanted minerals.  We recommend a whole house ozone treatment system for iron filtration.
