Water Treatment Solutions:
My Water Smells Bad
Bad smelling water is a Mother Nature warning – listen up. She’s saying that your water is bad! It needs fixing.
With city water the culprit is usually the added chemicals such as chlorine or chloramine gas mixed with other organic matter commonly found in water. Fortunately, these are relatively easy to clean up with a point of use system for your drinking and cooking water or a whole house city system for all your water uses.
Well water is considerably different. The number one complaint is that “my water smells like rotten eggs”. The rotten egg smell is caused by hydrogen sulfide gas. It’s not known to be harmful, but it is very annoying. There are many reasons for smelly water such as the chemical make-up, mineral content, and the type of material used in the piping system. Whole house well
One method to treat smelly well water is with the injection of chlorine either in dry pellet form or liquid bleach. However, because chlorine is proven to be harmful to all living things, we don’t recommend its use.
Our recommendation is a very versatile ozone treatment system for the removal of iron, iron bacteria, hydrogen sulfide and manganese to cure the bad color, taste and odor. This system uses ozone (0³) to clean up the dirtiest of well water and its only by-product is oxygen.
For city water, an ozone system works very well because it also removes all chlorine and chloramines while also adding needed oxygen to your water.
SPECIAL NOTE:
If you need to remove “hardness” from your water, a softener should be added.
VERY SPECIAL NOTE:
Your incoming water must be microbiologically safe for any manufacturer to warranty their products. If you think your water is hazardous, it should be tested by an independent testing lab to determine its contents.
